Blue Diamond Care is a North Carolina home care agency preparing for launch and seeking professional caregivers for a dual-role In-Home Caregiver / Companion-Sitter position.
Caregivers may be qualified to support both service pathways while working within the specific duties, boundaries, and plan of care for each assignment.
About the Opportunity
This is a field-based home-care opportunity. In-Home Caregiver assignments may include authorized hands-on personal care, while Companion/Sitter assignments are non-hands-on.
What You'll Do
As an In-Home Caregiver / Companion-Sitter, you will:
Provide authorized assistance with activities of daily living only when included in the plan of care and supported by documented competency.
• Provide assigned meal preparation, light household support, shopping, errands, laundry, and other authorized home-management activities.
• Provide companionship, conversation, social engagement, recreational activities, safety observation, and approved respite support.
• Observe and report changes, concerns, incidents, missed services, requests outside the assignment, and safety risks.
• Follow the applicable plan of care and service instructions and document actual services and time worked accurately.
• Participate in orientation, competency demonstration, supervision, training, retraining, and reassessment as required.
Understanding the Two Service Pathways
Companion/Sitter
Provides non-hands-on companionship, supervision, social engagement, respite, and approved home-management support. A Companion/Sitter assignment does not authorize hands-on personal care.
Qualifications for both roles do not merge the service pathways. Employees may not independently add or change services, expand the plan of care, diagnose, prescribe, administer medications, or provide skilled nursing treatment.
In-Home Caregiver
May include authorized hands-on personal care assistance and home-support activities consistent with the client’s plan of care, documented competency, qualifications, and Blue Diamond Care requirements.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
Professional hands-on caregiving or direct-care experience; no arbitrary minimum number of years applies.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to communicate professionally, follow instructions, and document services accurately.
Ability and willingness to provide services in clients’ homes and travel throughout Cary, Raleigh, Apex, and Morrisville.
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Legally required personal automobile insurance when a personal vehicle is used for authorized Blue Diamond Care business.
Ability and willingness to use electronic communication, documentation, and agency technology systems.
Access to your own compatible smartphone capable of supporting Blue Diamond Care's required Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) application, and willingness and ability to use the required EVV system for applicable assigned visits.
Willingness to complete applicable pre-employment, orientation, training, competency, and assignment requirements before applicable client assignments.
BDC-specific EVV setup and procedures are addressed through the applicable onboarding and assignment-readiness process.
Preferred Experience
Preferred experience may include:
Current qualifying North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry listing (often referred to as CNA status).
Substantial directly relevant home-care or private-duty experience.
Substantial experience assisting with activities of daily living.
Dementia or cognitive-support experience.
Mobility or transfer experience.
Relevant North Carolina Home Care Specialty Training.
Current qualifying NC Nurse Aide I Registry listing is preferred but not required for all applicants. Registry status does not replace Blue Diamond Care competency verification.
Schedule & Availability
This is a part-time, client-demand-driven opportunity. Hours are based on client needs and caregiver availability, and no minimum number of weekly hours is guaranteed at launch.
Unrestricted availability is not required, and weekend or holiday availability is not a universal prerequisite. Candidates may maintain other employment, provided they can reliably meet the Blue Diamond Care assignments and availability commitments they accept.
Compensation, Premium Opportunities & Mileage
$20.00–$23.00 per hour starting range.
W-2 employee status; nonexempt / hourly.
Placement within the starting range is based on directly relevant professional caregiving experience, qualifications, demonstrated capability, and other job-related factors.
Eligible weekend hours worked may be paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.
Eligible hours worked on Blue Diamond Care-recognized national or federal holidays may be paid at 1.5 times the regular hourly rate.
Qualifying authorized business mileage is reimbursed at the IRS standard business mileage rate in effect when the travel occurs.
Premium hours, assignments, schedules, and assignment volume are not guaranteed. Ordinary commuting is separate from qualifying authorized business mileage. Client transportation or errands using a personal vehicle must be specifically authorized.

Candidates selected to advance to the substantive structured interview must complete Blue Diamond Care’s Employment Application before that interview. Applicable pre-employment, training, competency, and final assignment requirements must be completed before client assignments.
Selected caregivers must have two completed references. References may be professional, personal, or a combination; immediate family members may not serve as either required reference.
